A little apple sitting on a self, surrounded by stillness and silence. Sometimes I feel that way, a bit isolated from the rest of the world but enveloped in quietness and tranquillity.

- Jan Lackey is an American artist living in Bohemia, the present day Czech Republic. Based near Chrudim, a small town in the heart of the Bohemian countryside. She shares a village farmhouse with her husband and son. As an accomplished still life, genre, and landscape painter, her paintings are held in private collections in the United States, and Europe. Jan Lackey is truly living “The Bohemian Lifestyle” doing art for art's sake. Her intimate kitchen table paintings, depicting everyday objects such as fruit and Bohemian pottery, employs soft harmonies of varied colour and form. Her genre and portrait paintings are vibrant with color and her luminous landscape paintings depict the shifting light of the American and European countryside. Inspired by nature's colour schemes but reinterpreting nature with her own colour harmony.
